Mrs Paula A. S. – Professional Violinist
I am delighted to be able to write this testimony today.
Oreblue saved my life and gave me a new one!
I became hyperacusic in December 2021 as a result of sound trauma. I was at a time in my life when I had a lot of work, I had to travel a lot for work, I had a lot of stress and I had just been sick (flu). The tinnitus started four days after the trauma, I had never had it before. The first ENT doctor who saw me thought I had an ear infection. I saw several other ENTs after that, but as I had no hearing loss, I always left without a diagnosis. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to undergo hyperbaric therapy, which helped reduce my tinnitus (I felt taken care of too); but once the therapy was over, I had no solution from the medical profession, and my fear increased.
I am a professional violinist and my life came to a halt. I had to cancel everything: my concerts and my lessons. A month later I ended up in a psychiatric ward. I had lost the meaning of everything. I couldn’t spend time with my partner, I couldn’t see my family, my friends, I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t listen to music… I didn’t know how to act anymore.
At the end of January I discovered Oreblue through an article by Mr. Karkkonen that I found online. I called the institute and had my first contact with Mr. Bonneyrat who reassured me a lot and calmed me down. I had to wait a few months for the assessment and during this time I was able to gradually get used to the sounds. During this time I tried Chinese medicine, I practiced yoga, qigong, I walked in the forest, I saw an osteopath, a maxillofacial physiotherapist, a psychologist, later a hypnotherapist…all this helped me to calm down but not for long and I did not get better. Finally I decided to make an appointment and started the therapy on June 1st 2022. By the end of October and after 4 sessions I had my thresholds back to normal.
I really enjoyed the healing process although I had my ups and downs, which is quite normal. I still wanted to go to La Rochelle. I loved the listening and each meeting with Madame Bonneyrat. From January 2023 I started to give violin lessons again little by little and last week I played again in the orchestra for the first time after 1 year and 4 months (with plugs -9DB and without plugs in bigger halls). I can’t describe in words the feelings I experienced. Now I can see my family and friends again, go to cafes, listen to music, go to the gym, fly and of course I can play the violin every day without traffic jams and without worry. I see the joy of all those who love me and who supported me during my most difficult moments.
Mrs Bonneyrat knows the pathology in depth and approaches the disease and the patient with an astonishing precision and discipline. Healing is a personal process and requires trust between therapist and patient. Madame Bonneyrat and Monsieur Bonneyrat never gave up on me and they always gave me their support. They showed me the way out and guided me with enormous patience and kindness. I can never thank them enough.
I continue to work with the tools that Madame Bonneyrat has shown me and I plan to play more often in the orchestra.
A word to all those who suffer from tinnitus. As for mine, it has diminished a lot, not completely disappeared, and some have gone away. In fact during the week I spent in the orchestra they were almost at 0, I only heard a little bit of air in the evening. I’ve also had times in therapy when I’ve been at 0; and the more I follow Mrs Bonneyrat’s advice the more they lose strength, so I think it will continue to evolve positively.
I can only advise you to follow the therapy if you want to live again. During my sessions in La Rochelle I met other patients and everyone was recovering from hyperacusis. Have confidence. Oreblue is a real “miracle”.
